- Daniel “Ninja” Roberts Winning
Hey Everyone! I got a big fight coming up this Friday at UFC on FX, against Charlie Benneman. Be sure to tune in and watch. I had a minute between training secessions and wanted to post a blog real quick about how my training is going. Training is a vital part of my success and accomplishments. I train everyday, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When I say I train everyday, I mean physically and mentally. Physical training is a major element in achieving success in MMA but mental training, in my opinion, is more important than physical training. I normally train about 4 to 5 hrs a day which consists of running three miles first thing in the morning. Next I refuel by eating a balanced breakfast which consists of eggs, oatmeal, banana, and orange juice. Then I rest for a few hours. After that, it is back to training. My mid-afternoon training consists of sparing, wrestling, and some jiu jitsu. For those that don’t know, I train with the Scrap Pack out in San Francisco. Training with these guys has really helped me with my stand up. I mean who else would you want to spar with in the MMA World, than the Diaz brothers?? On the days I don’t spar, I will do some pad work followed by strength and conditioning. Then it is time to eat again. I eat around five to six times a day. My meals and snacks consist of lean meats like chicken, turkey, tuna, beans and fish. For carbs I go with brown rice, fruits, and veggies. I also eat a good amount of good fats like almonds, walnuts, etc. I also drink at the very least a gallon of water a day. This keeps me hydrated as well as flushes the toxins and acid build up in my muscles during intense training. I physically train six days a week. I take Sundays off to give my body a rest. Rest is VERY important. Although mentally, I am still focused on improving all aspects of my game as well as how to attack my next opponent.
For those that don’t know, I used to work at Discount Sport Nutrition. I worked at their Tulsa, OK location for a good time while I was training to get into the UFC. So, you know supplements are part of my training regiment. I take protein, protein bars, vitamins, greens powder, BCAA, and glutamine all of which DSN retail store and website has.
Here are the specific supplements that I take (Click the links for more info on the products)….
M4 Nutrition Intense Blend (I love the strawberry flavor)
Axis Labs N’Gage (For my BCAA) – I drink this during my training
Myogenix Myovite – This vitamin pack has everything an athlete could want.
Macro Greens – With the training I do, you need some greens to keep you healthy and give you an immune boost!
M4 Nutrition Glutamine – 10 grams a day to prevent soreness and boost recovery.
VPX Zero Impact Bars – These are high calorie, but they are not filled with all of the junk most protein bars have in them. Perfect for intense training.
Don’t forget to watch this Friday on FX!!
Thanks for all of the support.
