Hey Everyone! I got a big fight coming up this Friday at UFC on FX, against Charlie Benneman. Be sure to tune in and watch. I had a minute between training secessions and wanted to post a blog real quick about how my training is going. Training is a vital part of my success and accomplishments. I train everyday, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When I say I train everyday, I mean physically and mentally. Physical training is a major element in achieving success in MMA but mental training, in my opinion, is more important than physical training. I normally train about 4 to 5 hrs a day which consists of running three miles first thing in the morning. Next I refuel by eating a balanced breakfast which consists of eggs, oatmeal, banana, and orange juice. Then I rest for a few hours. After that, it is back to training. My mid-afternoon training consists of sparing, wrestling, and some jiu jitsu. For those that don’t know, I train with the Scrap Pack out in San Francisco. Training with these guys has really helped me with my stand up. I mean who else would you want to spar with in the MMA World, than the Diaz brothers?? On the days I don’t spar, I will do some pad work followed by strength and conditioning. Then it is time to eat again. I eat around five to six times a day. My meals and snacks consist of lean meats like chicken, turkey, tuna, beans and fish. For carbs I go with brown rice, fruits, and veggies. I also eat a good amount of good fats like almonds, walnuts, etc. I also drink at the very least a gallon of water a day. This keeps me hydrated as well as flushes the toxins and acid build up in my muscles during intense training. I physically train six days a week. I take Sundays off to give my body a rest. Rest is VERY important. Although mentally, I am still focused on improving all aspects of my game as well as how to attack my next opponent.
